Financial Obligations

Temple Emanu-El provides countless ways to feel the joy of belonging to our community from our uplifting worship and vibrant Youth and Family programs to our commitment to Social Justice and Tikkun Olam. These opportunities are made possible through the ongoing contributions of our membership. Each household is responsible for a variety of fees on annual basis. Please note that at Temple Emanu-El we pride ourselves on our inclusivity and will work with any household where finances create a barrier to membership.

The Community Commitment (membership) is the annual pledge each household makes to the congregation. This amount is set by our board during our budgeting process and is payable throughout the entire fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). There are many tiers for membership we will contact you to find out which membership works best for you and your family:

  • Benefactor Membership (includes two reserved High Holiday seats and two tickets to the Annual Celebration)
  • Patron Membership (includes two reserved High Holiday seats as well as youth and teen programming for the High Holidays)
  • Single Patron Membership (includes one reserved High Holiday seat)
  • Family Membership (includes two High Holiday tickets as well as youth and teen programming for the High Holidays)
  • Single Membership (includes one High Holiday ticket)

In order to cover the costs of our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and secure facility, the board of directors has approved an annual Security Fee of $400 per family or $250 for individuals. The fee will be listed on your account as a separate line item from Membership Dues, and Religious School Tuition. One hundred percent of these funds will go toward continued police presence, additional physical security needs, and ongoing training for staff, lay leadership, and the congregation at large.

For those enrolling children in our Religious School program, there is an additional tuition fee.

I/We apply for membership in Temple Emanu-El and agree to be bound by its by-laws and regulations. I/We agree to pay annual membership dues, the Building Fund pledge, school tuition (if applicable), assessments, and any other sums which I/we may owe to the Temple, when due. Membership continues in Temple Emanu-El from year to year until I/we submit my/our written resignation/s or membership is otherwise terminated.

If you have any questions about the Membership Application please contact the temple office at 201-750-9997. Welcome to Temple Emanu-El, we're so happy you're joining our community!
